Sri Hanuman Chalisa
40 verses for Hanuman, the breath of God (Lord Ram)
In India, Hanuman symbolises such a pure and absolute devotion to God (Ram) that he is also known as the “breath of Ram” and so is a path to come closer to God. On the day of Mangalam (= day of blessing), the Tuesday, millions of believers sing the Hanuman Chalisa – a meditation on the deeds and qualities of Hanuman. This mantra is also chanted in the presence of the ill and dying and repeated 108 times during a special ceremony to receive Hanuman’s blessing.
