“Oh blissful, blessed Mother!
You are the source of all boons, the protector of all life.
Oh Goddess Durga – I bow to thee!” Hymn to Devi Durga
As part of the Durga Puja celebration the murti (statue) of the goddess is bathed and clothed in a new robe. Mataji rings a bell during this little ceremony – with each toll of the bell the sounds peal through the temple connecting us with shining and timeless being.
Traditionally, Durga Puja is celebrated in India in honour of the Goddess Durga’s triumph over the demon Mahisha. In a profound darshan, Mataji leads us into the inner world of this mystic tale describing the battle and the triumph of the Goddess Durga, this primordial feminine force in every human being which – once awoken – unfailingly overcomes the demon of ignorance and indifference that also resides in every human being.
As is the unique power of the living master, Sri Durgamayi Ma used every twist and turn of this celebration to touch our hearts, to open our inner eye for the soul, for the link between cause and effect in this world, for this spiritual path of self-knowledge.
This darshan lets me appreciate anew the great fortune inherent in the fact that life does not conform to my notions of how it should it be. And the master, like life, does not fulfill expectations – nor does she tolerate that I become immersed in wishful thinking only to emerge in great disillusionment.
Beloved Ma – you who embodies all wisdom
Beloved spiritual mother, you who fights for every heart und gives me courage and confidence
Salutations to you
I bow to thee
In this text a devotee of Sri Durgamayi Ma describes her experience during the Durga Puja celebration.
