Celebration in Remembrance of Maharajji’s 53rd Mahasamadhi
Many visitors and devotees came to Sri Neem Karoli Baba Mandir this weekend to commemorate Maharajji’s 53rd Mahasamadhi — the day on which He left His body 53 years ago, on September 11, 1973.
Because of an unexpected death in her close family, Durgamayi Ma was unable to be physically present during the celebration. Ma’s devotee Hanuman announced this to everyone at the beginning and also conveyed Ma’s wish:
Especially now, to celebrate this day in remembrance of Maharajji and of what He gave to Ma — and through her, to all of us — as His legacy, with all our hearts, and in this way to keep this legacy alive.
With heartfelt Kirtan and a festive Aarti in Baba’s honour, we celebrated the festival in deep gratitude, remembering His timeless message of love and compassion. During the Aarti, everyone had the opportunity to offer the light to Baba.
Together, we watched the wonderful pictures of Baba with His devotees and a short film with audio recordings of His voice on the big screen. The recordings were made by Vishnu Digambar, Ma’s late spiritual companion and later husband, when they were both sitting at Maharajji’s feet in 1973.
The entire celebration was filled by Baba’s and Ma’s love.
