History

The history of this ashram begins with Ma’s return from the United States in 1981. After the death of her beloved master, Sri Neem Karoli Baba, she, like many of His American devotees, found her way to her master in America — Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati. At her side, Ma experienced seven intensive years of discipleship, inspired by one great longing, as Ma herself says: to live with God in this world.

At the end of this period, already on her way back to Germany, Ma had an experience that brought her permanently into the highest state of consciousness. During the first years after her return from the United States, still completely unknown as a spiritual teacher, Ma initially lived a secluded life with Vishnu Digambar, her long-time spiritual companion, devotee, and husband.
