Festival of the divine mother

A look back at DurgaPuja

All experiences are granting always the same experience – THE DIVINE MOTHER

— from the poem ‘The Divine Mother’ by Swami Omkarananda

Friday evening we receive a message from Ma through Pujariji: ‘Ma is ill and cannot be present in the body for this celebration - but in our hearts Ma is always here.’ The sadness about not celebrating DurgaPuja in Ma’s presence is palpable in the room.

And yet we celebrate the Devi festival together with many visitors and with great devotion.

We listen to the story of Devi Durga and honour Her with Sri Durga Aarti.

Anyone who wishes to do so can write down on a card any obstacle in their life they would like to give into the sacred fire.

On Sunday we also celebrate the 43rd anniversary of Ma’s enlightenment.
Pujariji Hanuman greets us with these words:

43 years ago today, Sri Durgamayi Ma’s journey as a spiritual disciple ended and she entered into the highest consciousness forever. This day is significant for us chela. Ma’s life among us, in the body, and her inexhaustible, unconditional love are the highest inspiration for us - as they show that enlightenment is possible in this life.
